Crimson Moon Beginner Guide
Everything a new player needs to start — written strictly from officially confirmed mechanics.
You are a Nephilim, the last weapon of the Order of the Crimson Moon. The city of Gildenarch has fallen, and your job is to clear demons, undead, vampires and Hellgrowth abominations in brutal melee combat — solo or with one friend.
The core loop
- Prepare at the Church — upgrades, NPCs and War Table planning between missions.
- Take a mission — high risk, high reward: each successful run unlocks new missions, modifiers and skill achievements.
- Fight in melee — weapons, weapon arts, boons and your angelic transformation define your combat.
- Survive bosses — Dead Gods encounters punish unprepared builds.
- Return, upgrade, repeat — spend rewards on permanent growth and raise the difficulty for better rewards.
First steps for new players
- Understand the classless model early: your build = weapon + weapon arts + boons + angel (see the classes page).
- Start on a comfortable difficulty — dynamic scaling means you can match missions to your skill.
- Decide solo vs co-op: both are confirmed; co-op changes how builds synergize.
- Treat any unverified “best build” list from third parties with suspicion.
