Clarification

Does Crimson Moon Have Classes?

Crimson Moon has no traditional character classes. Your role comes from build choices, not from selecting a named class at character creation.

Direct Answer

No. Crimson Moon does not have traditional classes. You play a Nephilim, and your combat identity comes from your build: gear, weapons, Weapon Arts, Boons and Angels. Because there is no class or traditional character creator to pick from, identity is assembled entirely from equipment and build choices — see our character creation clarification.

How Builds Replace Classes

Instead of locking into warrior, rogue, mage or healer, you assemble a playstyle from systems that can be changed and improved over time. That makes the useful question less “what class should I pick?” and more “what effects does my current build support?”

Gear

Gear is the permanent equipment foundation. Purified items expand what you can start future hunts with, while upgrades make owned equipment stronger.

Weapons and Weapon Arts

Weapons and shields carry combat identity through movesets and Weapon Arts. An art that applies Bleed, Burning, Frost or Poison can push a build toward that status family.

Boons

Boons modify attacks, status effects, survivability, resources and Weapon Art behavior. Some Boons are temporary run choices, so your build can evolve after a mission begins.

Angels

Angels and angelic transformations are another build layer, but no official class names should be inferred from them. They help define a setup without creating a class list.

What Replaces Classes

  1. Weapon — defines your melee identity and hosts weapon arts.
  2. Weapon Arts — special arts attached to your weapon.
  3. Boons — supernatural powers that modify how your build behaves.
  4. Angel — the chosen angelic identity with transformations.
  5. Gear & Armor Sets — the equipment layer on top.

Is There a Best Class?

No. There is no class system and no verified best-class ranking. The strongest choice depends on the weapon, art, Boons, gear upgrades, mission and player execution.

How to Build Your Own Playstyle

  1. Pick a weapon setup you can use consistently.
  2. Identify the Weapon Art and any status effect it supports.
  3. Choose Boons that reinforce the same action or status family.
  4. Use gear and armor sets to support the plan, then assemble it at the Loadout Station.
  5. Treat archetype names as shorthand, not official classes.

Aggressive melee, status build and defensive shield style are descriptive player-facing archetypes, not official classes.
